Katy Perry wanted to make a splash at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, and by unveiling a new live song alongside a handful of aerialists, the pop superstar did just that. Perry debuted "Wide Awake" with an acrobatic performance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Sitting on a suspended sheet that slowly lowered from the rafters, Perry was flanked by a pair of aerialists as she swung over the stage. While the performance piece recalled past spectacles by P!nk and even Perry herself, the rejuvenated new track was classic Katy, and a sure-handed sequel to the triumphant "Part Of Me."
"Wide Awake" was written for Perry's upcoming 3D film, "Katy Perry: Part of Me," due out July 5. "Part Of Me," Perry's last single which was included on here "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection" reissue, shot to the top of the Hot 100 earlier this year.http://www.billboard.com
